What the service does
CivicHold maintains a searchable registry of state-held (unclaimed or abandoned) property and provides a secure, multi-step workflow for filing a claim against a matching record. Claimants create a claim, upload supporting documents, verify their identity, and track progress with a claim reference. Desk staff review every claim before a decision.
What is real and what is handled by the states
The registry is a directory of records reported to the service by participating states. Filing a claim through CivicHold places your claim in the review queue. The final decision — including any disbursement — is made only by the state office that holds the property, under applicable state law.
